Homemade oatmeal or avena casera is one of the recipes that I love to prepare the most, as a child I did not like much, perhaps because of the way my mother prepared it, and more when I served it hot, I had to take it with a spoon and blowing to not to burn my mouth.
Most likely that was the least I liked about oats, I even used to evade it when possible, homemade oats, it is very common to find it in many parts, from coffee shops to street vendors, you can even find versions in personal packs.
Only until I tried this cold homemade oatmeal, in a coffee shop was that I loved it, I decided to look for the recipe to prepare it at home, so today I will share this recipe of creamy homemade oatmeal, very delicious and I know that you will love it like me.

- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 4 cups milk
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons sugar
Instructions
- In a slow cooker, place the oats, milk, and water over medium heat for about 20 minutes, stirring constantly with a spoon.
- Add cinnamon and sugar. Reduce heat to low for 15 more minutes.
- Remove the pot from the heat and allow to cool. Place the oats in a bowl and refrigerate for 2 hours.
- Place the oats in a blender and mix for a minute. Add more water if you want it not to be as creamy. Serve cold and accompany almojábanas, fritters or cheese bread.
