Ingredients

  • 4 cups of cornflour
  • 1 cup of fresh cheese
  • 1 cup of feta cheese or costeño cheese
  • ½ cup of hot milk
  • 2 large beaten eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1 ½ teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 ° F (175° C).
  • Mix the baking powder in the hot milk, add a tablespoon of cornflour and sugar. Stir until well combined. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, add the butter and stir well. Add the cornflour, eggs, salt, and cheeses. Using your hands, mix well. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  • Divide the mixture into 18 equal portions, shape each into a ball, and roll them on a floured surface, creating a kind of elongated roll. Then, connect each end to form a ring. Cover with plastic wrap and let them rest at room temperature for 40 minutes.
  • Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or greased with butter and bake for about 25 minutes or until the cheese breads are golden brown on top.
  • Serve warm accompanied by a cup of coffee.

Notes

  • Don't add too much salt to your cheese breads; ¼ teaspoon of salt is enough, but it's all up to your taste.
