Oven-Roasted Chicken

If you want to surprise your family with something different, you can do it with this oven-roasted chicken recipe. The difference will be up to you, based on the spices and seasonings you add to the chicken. Enjoy making it and repeat this recipe time and time again until you find your ideal flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 Whole chicken cleaned, without viscera and feathers
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon of powdered basil Optional
  • ¼ teaspoon of powdered oregano Optional
  • ¼ teaspoon of powdered parsley Optional
  • ¼ teaspoon of powdered rosemary Optional
  • ¼ teaspoon of powdered thyme Optional
  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil
  • ½ glass of water
  • ½ glass of white wine or beer
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 210ºC (410ºF).
  • In a baking tray, place the chicken and sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper on top. Add the half glass of white wine or beer and the half glass of water into the tray with the chicken.
  • Mix the two teaspoons of olive oil, garlic, basil, oregano, parsley, thyme, and rosemary (Remember, spices are optional, and you can even add other spices you have on hand).
  • With a kitchen brush, coat the entire chicken with the spice mix. Remember to also brush the inside of the chicken.
  • Let it roast for about half an hour, then turn it over for even roasting. (Cooking time may vary depending on the oven, so keep an eye on it. If the chicken is cooked to your liking, turn it to avoid burning).
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes.
  • With a knife, cut it into the desired portions.

    Notes

    • You can omit the spices, and the roasted chicken will still be delicious.
