Solteritas

I invite you to prepare delicious solteritas together, a very traditional sweet from Colombia, and a supremely irresistible recipe.

Ingredients

  • 250 g wheat flour
  • ½ cup of water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt.
  • 1 teaspoon of orange coloring for baking
  • Frying oil

For the cream:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon orange coloring

Instructions

  • Sift the flour.
  • In a bowl, mix the water, vanilla extract, orange dye, sugar, and salt.
  • Then add the flour and beat until it forms a somewhat thick homogeneous cream.
  • Heat enough oil in a pot, and place the mold inside.
  • When the mold is hot, we take out the oil and remove the excess oil.
  • Then, place the mold inside the flour mixture without letting it overflow on top of it.
  • Place the mold with the mixture in the oil while still holding or touching the bottom.
  • The cookie will be in 1 or 2 minutes.
  • Remove the cookies to a plate with absorbent paper.
  • If the cookies do not come off the mold, you can help with a knife or fork.
  • In a medium skillet place, the water, the orange coloring, the sugar, and the vanilla essence.
  • Place over medium heat and boil.
  • In 50 ml of water, dilute the cornstarch and add to the mixture stirring constantly. When the mixture begins to boil, lower from heat. Let cool completely.
  • Serve the cookies accompanied by the cream; you can also add milk on top.
