Ingredients

  • 6 ripe guavas.
  • ½ cup of panela or sugar.
  • 2 cups of water.
  • 2 cinnamon sticks.
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence.

Instructions

  • Start by washing the guavas thoroughly. Trim the ends, then cut them into small cubes. Place the guavas in a pot with the water, cinnamon, and vanilla essence. Boil for about 20 minutes.
  • After this, remove from heat and let cool.
  • Drain the water in which the guavas were cooked, retaining a little. Use this water to blend the guavas.
  • Strain the blend to remove the guava seeds.
  • Transfer the blended pulp and sugar back to the pot and simmer on low heat. Keep stirring to prevent burning.
  • Once it begins to thicken, remove from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. You can store it in a glass container and refrigerate.

Enjoy!

    Notes

    • If the spread turns out too watery, reheat and keep stirring until the water evaporates. If it becomes too thick, reheat and add two tablespoons of water, then stir.
